Personal

When not working, I try to spend my free time outdoors. My personal hobbies outside range from life-long passions to recent discoveries.

ATV Riding

At the age of 5, I started riding ATVs and dirt bikes. My boyhood love grew throughout the years and progressed from trail riding into amateur motocross racing, competing on closed-course dirt tracks, throughout my high school and college years. Today I still ride as often as possible, but I no longer race.

Cycling

My time on two wheels started with a Huffy freestyle bicycle. Throughout my life I've enjoyed cycling, whether mountain or street, and have used it both as a means of transportation sparingly but mostly as a means of recreation. I spend a lot of my cycling time today on the trails throughout the city of Stow and in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Kayaking

A recent endeavor, I picked up kayaking three years ago. I bought my first kayak, a crossover-style creek boat, in 2011 and have been hooked since. I spend most of my paddling time on rivers, primarily the Cuyahoga River, and am progressing beyond my beginner status to develop whitewater skills and techniques.

Hiking

I try to walk and hike in local parks as much as possible (and when time permits). Some of my favorite places that I have hiked in the U.S. include Mt. Rainier National Park and Cook Forest State Park in Pennsylvania.

Music

Though not outdoors, I have loved playing music since I was young. I've been playing music since the fourth grade when I started on the trombone, which I played for various school organizations through college. The instrument's bass clef led me to the familiar tone of the bass guitar, which I played steadily in different bands throughout high school and college. Today I enjoy plucking my six-string acoustic often.
