Video Clips

Below are samples of recent video work, most of which was filmed and edited while working at Patch.com as the editor of Kent Patch. Included in the headline of each video is a link to its original article.

For this story, I was interviewing the church's organists and pastor. They agreed to play a few samples of music on the newly renovated organ so I could hear it for myself. They took turns playing while I recorded the samples on my iPhone, from a fixed position, and wandered around shooting photographs. The resulting video is really a slideshow of photographs mixed with audio clips from the iPhone recording, which doesn't sound all that bad for the device used. The camera used was a Nikon D3000.

I created this video above for a tutorial on kayaking a section of the Cuyahoga River that runs through downtown Kent, Ohio. The video encompasses the water and land routes used for a solo paddle, which involves using a bicycle to shuttle from the takeout point on the river back to the launch vehicle. The video was shot using a Liquid Image goggle camera, which provides a first-person point of view.

I shot the above video with a Sony HD handheld camera on a tripod. It's a simple voice-over with audio provided by one of the coffee shop owners and mixed with b-roll shot mostly inside the store.
